If anti-Zionism isn't antisemitism, why did Arabs recruit Nazis in 1948?
noreply@blogger.com (Unknown), 02 Jan 05:45 AM

Continuing my review of the Palestine Post articles from 75 years ago, we see this interesting piece from January 2, 1948:

It turns out this was far from the only reporting in 1948 of close cooperation between Arabs who wanted to murder the Jews and the Nazis who were experts on the topic.
January 9:

February 22 (JTA):

Arab agents are today recruiting mercenaries to fight against the Jews in Palestine from among the Yugoslav Ustashi and Chetniks and the Ukrainians, Albanians, Circassians (former inhabitants of the northwestern area of the Caucasus) and other groups here who were on Hitler's side during the war, and are now under the care of the International Refugee Organization.

Able-bodied men, both inside and outside the I.R.O. camps, who are between 22 and 32 years of age, and who accept the Arab terms of payment–their fares to the middle East and maintenance of their families in exchange for their pledge to serve in the Arab forces for at least one year–are being given visas by the governments of Egypt, Syria and Transjordan. Where the mercenaries are of Moslem origin they are being officially resettled" by formal negotiations between the governments concerned and the I.R.0. which, however, disclaims any knowledge of what use the individuals are put to on arriving in the Middle East.

New types of EoZ cartoons
noreply@blogger.com (Unknown), 01 Jan 03:30 PM

I love making my cartoons, but since I am not a good enough artist to draw them myself, I spend a lot of time looking for an existing cartoon that can be re-purposed and re-captioned for my punchline.

Last week, it occured to me that artificial intelligence drawing packages might be able to help.
They aren't the quality I want, but they show potential.
Here are the first two I made with the help of AI.

01/01 Links: From Jew vilification to the delegitimization of Israel; Netanyahu slams 'disgraceful' UN request for ICJ opinion on Judea and Samaria; The NYTs Rush to Whitewash Palestinian Terror

From Ian:

From Jew vilification to the delegitimization of Israel - opinion

From the dawn of time, Jews have been maligned and slandered. Apion's vilification, the blood libels, the Dreyfus trial, and of course, the antisemitic propaganda of the 20th century are just a few examples. All of these manifestations of antisemitism got an "upgrade" to vilifying Israel, where the majority of world Jewry resides, by taking away the very legitimacy of Jewish presence in its ancestral homeland.

This effort began when the Roman emperor Hadrian renamed the land of Israel "Palestine" in order to detach the Jews from their homeland. In a nutshell, the vilification of the Jew has evolved into the delegitimization of the State of Israel. Words have power, and we still suffer the consequences of those words written and spoken over the last two millennia.

Today, the effort to delegitimize Israel has gone global and has permeated organizations like the United Nations and Amnesty International, which routinely try to undermine Israel's right to exist as a Jewish and democratic state within any borders. Furthermore, with the democratization of communication due to the emergence of social media, the average person has been handed the power and platform to throw misinformed accusations at Israel with the click of a button.

Making matters worse, influencers and celebrities can reach three, four, or even ten times the number of all Jews on...Read More

Indigo Traveller, a popular social media personality, visited a beautiful but very dangerous slum in Brazil and interviewed people there.

One of his subjects is a dancer who has traveled around the world.
He describes how he experienced racism in Europe, especially Spain.
But his favorite place to visit and perform is Israel - he says he even learned Hebrew.

Dramatic video from Bethlehem of what an independent Palestinian state would look like
noreply@blogger.com (Unknown), 01 Jan 08:08 AM

Yesterday, the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades held a march in Bethlehem and clashed with Palestinian security forces.
Dramatic video shows gunfire in the middle of a commercial street as passersby scramble for cover.

This was not Israeli-Palestinian violence. It was not even Hamas-Fatah violence. It was Fatah-Fatah violence, as a Fatah leader in Bethlehem said that the gunmen ignored a decision from Fatah leaders not to march to celebrate Fatah's 58th anniversary.
The Al Aqsa Brigades, meanwhile, accused the Fatah leader of ordering shooting them as well as civilians.
Whatever the truth is, it is clear that Palestinian forces are trigger-happy, and not at all reluctant to fire automatic weapons in the midst of an urban area with shops and pedestrians.
The media is filled with images of Israeli soldiers framed to be violent invaders. Yet this footage of how Palestinians act without reporters anywhere to be found is nowhere to be seen except in social media.
This is what happens between Palestinians when the world isn't watching. And this what a Palestinian state would look like...Read More
