Palestinians accuse Jews of planting fake graves. (They're lying as usual.)
noreply@blogger.com (Unknown), 08 Nov 05:45 AM

Independent Arabia writes:

For years , the Israeli authorities have not stopped erecting what the Palestinians call "mock tombs" for settlers in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, as a means to confiscate the lands built over them on the grounds that they are old cemeteries , according to the residents of the area.

The Palestinians say that "creating fake graves is a way to confiscate the land, because it is not legal to object to that."

These "fake graves" are concentrated in the town of Silwan, which is adjacent to the southern wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque, especially in the neighborhoods of Wadi Al-Rababa and Wadi Hilweh in the town that the settlement associations are working to Judaize and expel the Palestinians from.

Witnesses said that "the Israeli authorities are working to create a hole 35 cm deep with a diameter of 40 cm, then pour cement over it, and an old stone is placed on top of it, surrounded by old dirt to suggest that the graves are hundreds of years old ."

The witnesses added that the Israeli authorities are currently working on creating...Read More

No, Israeli Democracy Is Not in Danger

Surveying rhetoric concerning last week's Israeli elections, and the upcoming American elections, Elliott Abrams writes:
There is a striking parallel between the comments being heard from the left in the United States about the meaning of a possible Republican victory on November 8, and from the left in the United States—as much as or more than in Israel—about the meaning of the victory of the right in the Israeli election on November 1. The meaning, we are told, is the end of democracy. That's what President Biden and Hillary Clinton said on November 2 about our elections, [while] President Obama said, "democracy is on the ballot." It is what we heard from commentators such as Thomas Friedman about the Israeli results and our own election.

What actually happened? There was a very high turnout of voters—over 70 percent, substantially higher than is typical in the United States (and this was the fifth election in under four years)—and it split almost down the middle.

Those inclined to apocalyptic rhetoric in response to the results cite the presence of two members of the far right, Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, in Benjamin Netanyahu's likely coalition. On this, Abrams comments:
For one thing, Netanyahu is a known quantity as prime minister because he was Israel's longest-serving prime minister ever. His party is...Read More

UNRWA in Gaza went on strike in support of terrorists of Nablus
noreply@blogger.com (Unknown), 07 Nov 04:00 PM

On October 25, terror groups in Gaza declared a general strike so that people could go to rallies and protest the deaths of Lion's Den terrorists in Nablus.

The Hamas Ministry of Education issued a statement: "In response to the call of the national and Islamic factions, and in response to their call for a comprehensive strike, the Ministry of Education announces the suspension of studies during the afternoon and evening period in all public and private schools in the Gaza Strip and UNRWA schools." This is "to mourn the souls of our righteous martyrs in the city of Nablus, and in solidarity with our people in the occupied West Bank who are subjected to criminal attacks by the Zionist occupation."

Shops and government facilities were also shut down.

This gives an idea of how little Hamas cares about the people, who are already struggling to make a living.

And it also shows that UNRWA, ostensibly independent, goes along with whatever political moves Hamas tells it to do.

More natural gas discovered in Israeli waters - which will help the EU
noreply@blogger.com (Unknown), 07 Nov 02:15 PM

The Jerusalem Post reports:

Energean PLC has announced a new commercial natural gas discovery of 13 billion cubic meters off the shore of Israel as a result of its exploratory drilling well dubbed Zeus-1. It has also confirmed the presence of an additional 3.75 bcm at its Athena site.

These discoveries have confirmed the company's suspicions that the so-called "Olympus area" located between the Karish and Tanin gas fields are both voluminous and commercially viable.

Israel signed an agreement last June to export its gas to Europe via liquefaction in Egypt.

The amount being exported to Europe under this agreement is 10 billion cubic meters a year, only 6% of what Russia has been supplying, but chances are high that Israel will increase this amount in coming years as more gas gets discovered.

The ability to extract natural gas and export it to partners is an important guarantee for Israel's security. It will not last forever, as the EU is committed to reducing use of fossil fuels. But with the current crisis with Russia, EU countries will remember who is a reliable ally.

PMW: The Palestinian rejection of Israel's right to exist

The Palestinian objection to the 1917 Balfour Declaration is one of the most explicit expressions of the Palestinian rejection of Israel's right to exist. This year, as in previous years, the Palestinian Authority and its leaders marked the historical event with a barrage of statements condemning the declaration, that ranged from outright rejection to elaborate conspiracy theories.

The common theme of all the statements, as Palestinian Media Watch has conclusively demonstrated, is the denial of the internationally and historically recognized connection of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel and the rejection of the legitimacy of the State of Israel, in any borders.

Leading the barrage was the PA Ministry of Information which claimed that the declaration was "the crime of the era" which "exceeded the crimes of colonialism", and called on the Britain to "be ashamed of their sin".

"The [PA] Ministry of Information said that the black Balfour Promise in its 105th year is the crime of the era, … this unjust promise is a dangerous precedent in the history of international relations… that … exceeded the crimes of colonialism…

The Ministry of Information reemphasized that Britain and all its diplomats should be ashamed of their sin, their historical injustice, and their denial of all the laws and conventions…" – which obligates them to recognize the State of Palestine...Read More

Arab scientists feud over camel urine as a miracle cure
noreply@blogger.com (Unknown), 07 Nov 10:00 AM

A professor of physiology at the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University in Egypt, Amal Kenawy, had advised people should drink camel urine, due to the many benefits it contains. Kenawy says that many scientific experiments have proven camel urine's benefits.
She's not the only one. A preacher in Kuwait made a video over the summer extolling not only the health benefits of camel urine, but its wonderful taste, when mixed with camel milk.
There are lots of articles in Arabic websites that extol the benefits of camel urine, to treat cancer and kidney stones and as a miracle cure for other diseases...Read More

How many of these far-Right Republican figures have dabbled in antisemitism?
noreply@blogger.com (Unknown), 07 Nov 08:00 AM

Haaretz has two articles about extremism in today's Republican party, and many of the examples include what they claim is antisemitism.

Armed with my definition of antisemitism, do their examples fit the bill?
Law professor David Schraub says that the GOP is now as antisemitic as Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party was. Let's look at what he says.
After years of largely futile efforts by Jews to raise the alarm bells on ascendant antisemitism in the GOP, 2022 finally has made the problem too obvious to ignore. Republican candidates up and down the ballot are cavorting with open white supremacists, attacking their opponents for sending their kids to Jewish schools and eagerly elevating the conspiratorial Jew-baiting of celebrities like Kanye West.My definition is precise, so I need precise examples. I am unaware of any candidate attacking opponents for sending kids to Jewish schools, for example, but the specific language would be important - i.e., if the point was attacking their record on public schools but having nothing to do with the "Jewish" part of the schools they sent their kids to.
