EoZTV: A rant about Palestinian and world hypoocrisy
noreply@blogger.com (Unknown), 20 Apr 04:45 AM

Last week I noted that Palestinians were breaking rocks on the Temple Mount in preparation for throwing them at Israeli police and Jews. I noted that there are some artifacts on the Temple Mount, sitting out in the sun, that look like they were part of ancient structures, and wondering whether Palestinians use those.

Now we know - they do.
Palestinians took large rocks from the east side of the Temple Mount to build obstacles where Jews circumnavigate the site, and Eli Kohn published a video showing what it looked like Tuesday morning.
I saw this in the video:

This is from a column of an old, perhaps ancient, building.
Where is UNESCO? Where are the people who claim Israel targets "Palestinian archaeology"? Here we see direct evidence of Palestinians destroying cultural objects - and no one gives a damn.
So I ranted on video about that as well as a MEMRI video where a top aide of Mahmoud Abbas contradicts himself, lies about Jews, lies about history, and - again - no one cares.
Here's my rant on EoZTV:

Seth Frantzman: Abraham Accords 2.0: Israel-Arab summit is a view into future Middle East

The U.S. has provided support to the UAE to defend itself against the Houthis, and downed two Iranian drones that were targeting Israel, as the drones flew over Iraq. However, this support may not be enough to deter Iran, leaving Israel and its partners with concerns about the emerging drone and missile threat. Iran openly threatens the Arab countries, which it accuses of collaboration with "Zionists," and these threats could impact world oil supplies or trade and tourism in the Gulf. A meeting in mid-March between Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and his counterparts from the UAE and Egypt included a focus on regional security and countering missile and drone threats.

A second process unfolding in the region is the perception that the U.S. may be drawing down its focus on the Middle East as it shifts to confront Russia or other adversaries such as China. As a result, Israel and its new partners realize they must work together. This could mean cooperation on air defense systems — a big win for Israel since its air defense systems are perceived as some of the best in the world. Not only the UAE, Bahrain and Morocco may want the systems, but Germany is reportedly interested in Israel's Arrow system, which defends against ballistic missiles...Read More

Egyptians upset over Israeli visitors during Passover
noreply@blogger.com (Unknown), 19 Apr 03:00 PM

AFP reports:

Israeli-organized twin dance festivals in the Sinai have sparked outrage in Egypt as they come just days before the anniversary of the end of the Jewish state's occupation of the peninsula.

The Nabia and Grounded festivals, which coincide with the Jewish Passover holiday, also come as Muslims observe a daytime fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Nabia festival is due to run from April 17 to 20; the Grounded festival from April 20 to 23. Both offer all-night dancing with an international lineup of artists.

There's a hashtag going around, " #أوقفوا_المهرجانات_الصهيونية" - "Stop Zionist Festivals." Lots of upset Egyptians are writing about how terrible this is.

Samar Farag Fouda, daughter of a famous Egyptian writer who defended secularism and was against Islamism before he was assassinated by Islamists in 1992, went on an antisemitic tirade against Jews visiting Egypt. (She said that Israel expelled 4 million Christians . Who knew?)

Putin's War in Ukraine Has Repercussions For Israel And The Abraham Accords (Daled Amos)
noreply@blogger.com (Unknown), 19 Apr 01:00 PM

By Daled Amos

I remember the Iran hostage crisis during the Carter administration, when the US was humiliated by its inability to rescue the Americans being held by Iran.

One of the points made at the time was that Iran would never have tried something like that with the USSR -- for fear of the ruthless reaction that would result. Yet just a few years later, the USSR found itself mired in a 10-year war in Afghanistan, a war that it lost.

At the time, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution condemning the Soviet presence in Afghanistan, while aid -- both economic and military -- was provided to the Afghan rebels, and sanctions were imposed.

In the end, not only did the Soviet Union find itself forced to leave Afghanistan, the failed war is counted as one of the reasons for the fall of the Soviet Union.

So much for the ruthless image of the USSR -- and Russia.

Yet Russia bounced back, especially in the Middle East, where Putin has been able to establish a solid foothold in the area, especially as a factor in Syria and as a partner with Iran. Israel's ability to strike at Iranian targets in Syria and prevent Iranian supplies going to Hezbollah is dependent on maintaining good relations with Russia. Clearly, Russia is again a force to be reckoned with and respected.

And now comes the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Are Russia's unexpected difficulties in Ukraine a new sign of weakness?

That is what Ehud Yaari, an Israel journalist, is claiming. Yaari writes that...Read More

noreply@blogger.com (Ian), 19 Apr 11:00 AM

From Ian:

How Palestinians Desecrate Everyone's Holy Sites, Including Their Own

"We salute every drop of blood spilled for the sake of Jerusalem. This blood is clean, pure blood, shed for the sake of Allah. Every martyr will be placed in Paradise, and all the wounded will be rewarded by Allah." — Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, MEMRI, September 16, 2015.

The small number of Jews who have peacefully toured the outdoor Temple Mount area in the past few years have never even set foot inside the Aqsa Mosque or on the nearby Dome of the Rock. The Jewish visitors do not go there to assault or humiliate Muslims. They go there as part of organized tours that are coordinated with the Israeli authorities.

Blinken's remarks show that he considers the construction of new homes for Jews more dangerous than the murder of Israelis on the streets of Israeli cities.

This is all happening while the Biden administration airily disregards endless Palestinian blood libels and vicious incitement against both Israel and the Jews.

Prominently, Blinken did not threaten to suspend US financial aid to the Palestinians over the payments to the families of terrorists who murdered Jews and the ongoing incitement to attack Israelis.

Take note: as long as Blinken considers the construction of apartments for Jews a greater threat than shooting and stabbing Israeli men and women at shopping malls and...Read More

Book review: "People Love Dead Jews"
noreply@blogger.com (Unknown), 19 Apr 09:00 AM

I had read great things about this book, and they are all true.
Dara Horn, who is normally a novelist, put together a series of essays about today's antisemitism. She is an excellent writer, but more importantly, she has the ability to cut through the bull and point out what seems obvious in retrospect.
The title of "People Love Dead Jews" is its theme: Jews are adored when they are dead, and are not liked at all when they are still alive. The first essay is about Anne Frank and points out that her famous diary is loved because it makes non-Jews feel good about themselves. This paragraph is devastating:

The line most often quoted from Frank's diary—"In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart"—is often called "inspiring," by which we mean that it flatters us. It makes us feel forgiven for those lapses of our civilization that allow for piles of murdered girls—and if those words came from a murdered girl, well, then, we must be absolved, because they must be true. That gift of grace and absolution from a murdered Jew (exactly the gift, it is worth noting, at the heart of Christianity) is what millions of people are so eager to find in Frank's hiding place...Read More

How "human rights groups" covered (or didn't cover) Friday's Temple Mount riots
noreply@blogger.com (Unknown), 19 Apr 07:00 AM

According to Palestinian media, some 250 "civil service and human rights organizations' signed a statement condemning Israel's "attacks on worshipers at Al Aqsa Mosque" on Friday.

I could not find the list of these organizations anywhere.
But some anti-Israel human rights organizations have some credibility in the Western world, and try not to lie explicitly - just twist facts. How did they cover the Friday riots, that were clearly initiated by Palestinian Arabs who had been incited for a week to violence in pretense of "defending Al Aqsa" from a nonexistent threat?
For the most part, they were silent. Because they know that the facts are that the only desecration of Muslim holy sites was done by Muslims, not Israel.
Human Rights Watch said nothing, and neither did its head Ken Roth.
Amnesty International said nothing.
B'Tselem said nothing.
The Al Mezan Center for Human Rights only...Read More
